How to renew your medical cannabis card

Renewing your card is very similar to applying for your first card. You will use your same UtahID and EVS account.

You’ll get an email with instructions to renew your card 30 days before it expires. Your new card will be in your EVS account the day after your current one expires.

  1. Log in to the EVS with your UtahID.

Go to https://dts.utah.gov/idhelp/ if you need help with your UtahID account.

Look at the pictures under the “visual help” heading to see how to log in to the EVS with your UtahID.

  2. Resubmit your medical cannabis application in the EVS.

Look at the pictures under the “visual help” heading to see how to submit your medical cannabis card renewal application in the EVS.

  3. Set up an appointment with your medical provider to renew your medical cannabis certification.

You can meet with your medical provider in-person or through telehealth. They will follow-up with you about your medical condition to see if medical cannabis is still a good treatment option for you. If it is, they’ll submit a new certification for you in the EVS.

You don’t need to see the same medical provider who submitted your initial certification for your renewal. You can find different medical providers and compare their costs for renewal visits with the Healthcare Cost Comparison tool.

  4. Pay your renewal fee.

You’ll get an email from [email protected] with instructions to pay your medical cannabis card renewal fee after your provider submits your new medical cannabis certification in the EVS.

  5. Download your medical cannabis card from the EVS.

The day after your current card expires, your new card will be available in your EVS account. Print or save your new card to your device. You must show your new card and a valid photo ID each time you go to a medical cannabis pharmacy or get a medical cannabis delivery. Find a pharmacy or home delivery service.

Look at the pictures under the “visual help” heading to see how to find your new card in your EVS account and download it.

  6. Your medical cannabis card will last for 1 year.

Your provider may choose a shorter expiration date if they feel that will be best for your medical condition. You can see your card’s expiration date in the EVS.
